Craps Rules – Simple Craps Game Rules

Craps is one of the most fun, and popular casino games present.  For the non craps players out there, let me tell you, you are missing out on a lot of fun! Here is the good part though: learning the game  is not as hard as what people might think.
In fact, let’s go over the the craps rules right now, so that next time when you go to Vegas, you get to be a part of all the buzz.

Ready to get hooked? Ok!

Firstly, in live craps games there are four people in charge of the table:

Craps Rules - StickmanThe Boxman: He is the main person of the table, and looks over all the proceedings.
Two dealers: they handle players on each side.
Stickman: He is the one who handles the dice.

Now, let me tell you the basic idea behind Craps. This is a dice game. You place a bet on the outcome of the rolls. If the outcome of the roll is what you predicted, then you win. On the other hand, if the outcome is not what you predicted, then you lose the bet that you placed.

Ok, now let’s look at the game of craps according to rules of craps – how the game is actually played.

First, you place your bet on the “pass line”. It’s a area on the board. Once that is done, the shooter will provide you some dice out of which you choose two. Then, you roll the dice in such a way that it hits the opposite end of the table.
The first roll is called the coming out roll. Getting a 7 or a 11 on your first roll (called a natural roll), means that you win the amount you bet. On the other hand, if your roll comes out to be a 2,3,or 12, then you lose the bet. This is according to craps rules called craps. At this point, the dealer will take away the bet that you placed on the “passing line”. This doesn’t mean that your turn is done. You are going to keep rolling till you “seven out”. In other words, till you roll out a seven.

Craps Rules - Pass LineNow let’s look at what happens if you don’t roll a 7,11,2,3 or 12. If on your first turn, you roll out 4,5,6,or 8, then that sets your box point. In other words, whichever number (out of 4,5,6 or 8 ) you roll out becomes your point. Your goal now is to keep rolling till you get that point (same number that you got before) again. But if you roll out a 7 before making that box point again, you lose!

Once your turn is done, the next player gets to place the bet and roll. The game continues on like this in line with the craps rules.

Although there are a lot of types of bets you can make according to rules of craps, the pass line bet is the most easy and newbie friendly. And it also has low casino advantage especially in connection with craps odds bet which is bet with zero house edge.

But, let’s go ahead and look at a few the other craps game bets.

Craps Rules betsThe first based on the craps rules is the “pass line” bet, which I have already explained. This bet in reverse is “don’t pass line bet”. In this, if the person get a 7 or 11 on first roll, the player loses the bet.

The second is a “field bet”. This bet can be made on any turn, by placing your chips that you want to bet, on the “field bet” area. This bet is also known as a one roll bet. This means that it only lasts for a roll. If the shooter shoots any number other than 2,3,4,9,10,11 or 12 , then you lose. If this happens, then you have to bet again for the next turn.

The third is “come bets”. This is the same as the  “pass line”bet. The only difference is that, unlike “pass line bet” you make this bet after the come out roll. The reverse of this is the “don’t come out ” bet.

Last is the “place bets”. This is where player chooses a number, and if that number is rolled out before a 7, then that’s a win.

These are just a few of the many bets available for this game based on the rules of craps.
If you have never played before, it is recommended that you stick with the “pass line bet” and “come bet” which are also the best with lower house edge (long with the don’t pass line and don’t come bets).

So That’s it! That’s how you play craps. There are a lot of online casinos where can play for free and practice the craps rules. There are even Ipad apps available for this game now. You can also find free craps game on our website. Remember, practice makes perfect. And let me tell, once you start playing, you will be hooked!
